How do you get spilled coffee out of a mattress?
I have a new Tempurpedic mattress and I spilled a 12 oz cup of coffee on it. I already took off the mattress cover and washed that on gentle in the machine, but how do I get the smell out of the mattress itself? The company suggested arm and hammer baking soda. Is that the best way? Do I put it straight or dilute it?

Baking soda is good. Make it into a paste – not too runny. Another good solution is Borax. It is a great cleaner as well as deodorizer. Same thing: make it a paste, massage it into stain, and to rinse, use a damp cloth, rinsing it often, and blotting area to dry.
DONT DRINK COFFEE IN BED
I would clean it the best i can, than turn the matress over. WAM new matress!
rent a steam cleaner and it will get rid of the smell and the stain. Safe to use as well just dont get the surface overly wet
i swear by regular dish soap(the hand kind)
i’ve gotten out stubborn stains out of my carpets and my mattress. i got a huge coffee stain out of my carpet that had been there for over a year. carpet cleaners didn’t work. just use cold water cause warm or hot will set the stain when it dries. i know this will work on your mattress. just don’t soak the sponge or washrag.
Lemon juice and baking soda mixed should do the cleaning letting it rest 5 minutes and scraping it later. If it does not work try some heavy duty cleaning solution.
You’re not going to be able to. The surface is possible (pouring straight) but it’s impossible to get even just half of it out.
I’d buy a new mattress.
P.S. If someone gives you something to work on then that’s sooo cool. You’ll still probably get buggs living inside your mattress where the stain still lies.
Mix a solution of peroxide and febreze. Peroxide will remove the stain-perox removes organic stains. Febreze for the odor.
That is tough. Most likely the smell has soaked down into the mattress. Coffee stains are very tough to get out, but with professional cleaning and deodorizing, you have a chance.
try your favorite, shout it out.
I actually have one of those too..
I like the woolite oxy clean spray…it forces the stain to rise up to the top…you don’t have to scrub..just spray..let it sit and then dab with a paper towel.
Soap and water.
buy a new one
If none of the above work getting your coffee stain out I would pour coffee over the rest of the mattress….Coffee is and an excellent beverage and it also makes for a dynamite color…
Why don’t you try using a shampooer with an upholstery attachment and mix in a little bit of a product called Odoban. I have alot of pets and this works great. You can get this product at Sams Club.
I haven’t had to remove one like this but I got this from http://www.doityourself.com/stry/coffee
Mix one teaspoon of a mild ph balanced detergent (a mild non alkaline non bleaching detergent) with a cup of lukewarm water
Blot
Mix one third cup of white household vinegar with two thirds cup of water
Blot
Sponge with clean water
Blot
Hope it works. If not, do a google search on coffee +stain +removal
try spraying Windex on the stain then rubbing it with a towel. it takes some elbow grease. windex will remove most stains
hmmm, how bout spilling something you like on it,that way it wont be a problem anymore
Well drinking coffee in bed sort of cancels out the benefits of each, does it not? I mean if it’s in the morning well you really should be moving around and trying to get ready. But if it’s in the evening then you really should be drinking something without caffeine (Jolt cola works nicely) but now that the damage is done I guess it’s better than smoking in bed because coffee can give you a really bad burn if it’s hot but a lit cigarette could like kill everyone in the house. Are Temp…temper…that word mattresses flame retarded? ‘Cause if they aren’t then you might not want to bring anything hot near it, you know, just in case right better safe than sorry? Or were you drinking iced coffee? I like iced coffee with soy milk and lots of sugar. Very refreshing? Where was I? Oh yeah heat. No don’t put anything that generates heat or flame in bed because that’s bad. And don’t remove the mattress tags either. That’s bad too. Those tags are there for a reason and your special Swedish mattress will have speciall Swedish tags and if you ever need to have it repaired then the shop will need those tags to know what to do and stuff (like it prolly says don’t dump coffee on the mattress). I think I better go to bed, I’ve done enough damage. Thanks for letting me act like a wanker. For the love of all that’s holy, pick someone more deserving for the ten peanuts. Don’t eat peanuts in bed either.
Flip it:
Nature’s Miracle. It’s for pets but I used it when I spilled stuff on my mattress. The coffee, as one answer said, has surely gone down into the mattress. You have to pour the Nature’s Miracle on the mattress. Read the bottle. It worked really well for me for a nasty, big stain. But you’ll need to give it plenty of time to dry. You have a couch, don’t you?
Sprinkle it directly on the mattress, and yes that is the best way.
What were trying to test it out, like they do on tv? Haha. Try, milk, cold water, and lemon soap.
Oxy Clean
Wash your mattress itself and leave outside in the fresh air to dry thoroughly…

U can also ask them all about cleaning tips!
first dab it with a damp cloth (warm) then put on some baking soda i dont think you should dilute it just apply it straight on and give it a scrub.
Baking soda is fine
if not baking soda you can dry it under the sun that’s what we did before when my mom spilled coffee in our matress and after drying it under the sun the smell is gone and the matress is back the way it is
use oxy clean and water ,or an old wives tale , you could pee on it lol
Oxy-clean, water and a shop vacuum. Or maybe an upholstery cleaner for a steam cleaner.
Try drying it under the sun. ^_^
We did that when my brother spilled urine in bed ^_^
put surf excel wash gently and put out for the sun dry for a weeek and the spilled will go off
no dont use arm and hammer..use the generic brand.
)
Its the same and cost less
well i did the same thing and all it took was for me to go out on a date and leave my 9week old puppy unkennled!! SHAZZZAM no more stain…but now i need to buy a new mattress because the hole is large. Im willing to lend you my puppy!!!
SPRINKLE ARM AND HAMMER ON LET IT SET FOR ABOUT 5 MINS THEN VACUUM IT UP
arent those the giant sponge matresses? just put a waterproof cover and a clean sheet over it and forget about it.
Put a sheet over the mattress
put it on straight and dry let it set for a while (1-2) hours and vaccuum up.
BY USEING WOOLITE UPHOLSTRY CLEANER, AND THAT SHOULD DO THE TRICK.
I would try one of those wet vacs like you use on your rugs. That or a home dry cleaner tool.
Spray and wash, or any stain remover, not the bleach one though. My young son had an accident on our mattress and it worked wonders. I just scrubbed it in, no stain, no smell nothing. Or make a paste of arm and hammer baking soda and a little water until it is spreadable like butter and scrub that in, good luck
you dont, once its spilled, it’s spilled
a more important question is how do you get the come stains out of the pillow case
