I have a Tempurpedic mattress and pillow, but still wake up with a stiff neck what's wrong?
I have been working out of town and sleeping in a hotel for the past month, coming home on weekends. I find the Hotel bed comfortable, and my bed wasn’t. So I purchased a tempurpedic mattress as well as pillows yet I am waking up with sore neck this was not happening at Hotel Help!

I have a Tempurpedic mattress and pillow also, and I will have stiff neck sometimes too. I find that changing to different pillows for a period of time helps. I switch back and forth between my regular pillow and the tempurpedic, and usually after a few days to a week, the neck stiffness is gone. It might be as simple of that for you. Hope it helps.
Back and neck pains have nothing to do with what you sleep on, just with the muscles that are in pain. You have tight neck muscles causing the pains there and to get rid of the pain you have to free up your neck muscles and here’s how to do that:
Neck
Put your hands alongside your head so your thumbs are on the front of the muscle under your ear and your fingers are on the back of the muscle behind your neck. Squeeze your thumb and fingers together and hold. Relax your body. When your fingers and thumb touch, about two minutes, slowly lower your head as far as you can, release the pressure but hold your neck lowered for another 30 seconds.
For best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed.
Foam neck pillows and mattresses such as the temper-pedic brand work for some people very well.
For other people they need a different kind of neck pillow. There are many other choices: fiber fill, bukwheat, water, air- you just have to find the right one for you. Also, you have to make sure you are sleeping on the right size of neck pillow. This is huge- too many people use a pillow that is too big for them, and that can lead to soreness in the mornings.
Check out the linear gravity neck pillow on http://www.neckpainreliefkit.com- it comes in three different sizes, has two areas of neck support (2 neck rolls- one larger, one smaller) that one can choose from: http://www.neckpainreliefkit.com/lineargravityneckpillow

If you are having neck pain, try using a heat pack or a cold pack.
Back and neck pain has to do alot with your sleep. Some individuals sleep on the same side all night long and wake up with pain. Other people toss and turn at night and never really fully sleep and wake up with neck and back pain. You can get pain if you leave the window open at night.. I don;t feel that tempurpedic mattress really support your body as they state It is pure foam. I have an orthopedic frim mattress and I love it. When you are away and slept better because you were much more tired….Nursing Degree.
You never mentioned that you slept on Tempurpedics in the hotels you were staying at so I am curious why you buy one. Of course hind sight is always 20/20
I would have suggested looking into the same mattresses you were sleeping on in the hotels. Often they will share with you what kind of mattresses they are or you can simply pull the bedding off and look for your self. Then contact the manufacturer for the nearest retailer that carries the same thing or something similar.
