Can you put a mattress pad on a box spring instead of using a regular mattress?
I was wondering if you can use a thick mattress pad on a box spring instead of a regular mattress. I just got an apartment and brand new mattresses (even futon mattresses) are out of my budget. If not, any Ideas?

Most of the box springs now aren’t even box springs; they’re just wooden box foundations. I suggest you buy a mattress and get second hand box spring. Or just set the mattress on the floor. Also, you could buy an air mattress. People say they’re very comfortable.
Yes you can. The idea behind a mattress on a box spring is to distribute the load. By flipping the pad over long ways and over and over the other direction, you will cause the pad to last longer. The thicker the pad, would be better. Hope this helps and have a great day.
The Box Springs now are just Wood Foundations. I DEFINATLY would buy a Mattress. If Your on a tight budget perhaps a Reasonably priced Daybed or a Reasonably priced Futon may be a better solution.
USA Yes, it is possible, but not advisable. Without a mattress you might not get a good night’s sleep. And if you don’t get a decent sleep, it will have a bad impact on your day. If you continue to have a poor sleep for a long period of time, you will develop back and muscle problems, constantly feel tired, develop mood swings, and possibly worse.
You spend 6 to 8 hours per night in a bed; get a good one. You will wake up rested and energetic from a good night sleep. That helps in job performance, learning ability and even relationships. As a further demonstration, look up forms of torture. You will find that sleep deprivation and poor sleeping conditions have been used as torture for centuries. So why torture yourself? Instead of a movie or latte for the next few months, buy a good mattress. Your back will thank you.
