How long should you use a mattress before replacing it?
We’ve had a mattress for probably 7 years and I think it may be time to replace it because it just doesn’t seem comfortable anymore. Any idea on how long you should keep a mattress?

I think you should change a mattress every 5 years….
When a mattress becomes uncomfortable, because it is worn out its time to replace it, when the springs no longer pop up, when the mattress has a big dent in it where you usually lay, when it start getting holes in it, when the mattress cover has become faded beyond recognition, well if any of these apply its time to buy a new one.
well, you can use it as long as you get another one to replace it
You answered the question yourself. Most brand names have a warranty period as long as you haven’t abused it. You might be able to get the original sales dealer to sell you a new one with a prorated price based upon your warranty if you have a brand name mattress. Have your original sales receipt available as well for proof of purchase. Check it out.
We always purchase very good mattresses and they normally last 10+ years. We then put them in the guest room and buy another for ourselves and dispose of the oldest. Works great.
