do all mattresses require a box spring?
i want a bed that is not for use with a box spring. My mattress is Sealy spring free posturepedic crocker grove ultra plush. It also has a latex core. I want to know if i should look for a different bed.
The bed I’m looking at is a platform bed and i do have a box spring. I’m wondering if I can use my mattress without a box spring?

I need a very firm mattress for my injured back. Will it work to put firm mattress on a solid wood platform?
I injured my back more than 20 years ago and arthritis is developing in it causing more pain. Right now I sleep in a recliner because the Serta Posturepedic Set I purchased a few years ago gives me back pain every morning. I am planning on buying a good Sealy Mattress during a current close out sale and I wonder if it will be more firm if it’s not on a box spring.
I don’t want to change the total height of the surface I sleep on very far either and definitely not make it any taller. I have nice drawers under my mattress and box springs and it is the perfect height to stand beside the bed for sexual intercourse which is great for my back in that position.
I have other convenient furniture for other positions that won’t hurt my back also.

Tempurpedic mattress okay on an Ikea bed frame (slats) ?
I currently have a Tempurpedic mattress and I love it! I have it on one of thier foundations sitting directly on the floor.
I like the look of Ikea bed frames. The Ikea bed frames don’t use a box spring or foundation and the mattress lies directly on slats.
Is it okay to put the Tempurpedic mattress directly on the slats without the foundation?

Box spring Support (ikea bed frame)?
Hi,
I have a Sealy Posturepedic matress with a matching boxspring. I got it in August, but had them on the floor until 2 days ago when I finally got a frame for it. Until now I have had great sleep, but when I started sleeping on the mattress using the frame, I found my back hurting when I woke up the past 2 nights.
My new frame is from Ikea and I didn’t purchase the middle support that runs lengthwise from headboard to footboard or the wooden slats they sell when you are using their mattresses, as I was under the impression I did not require either of these since I have a box spring. My box spring is only supported on the left and right sides from headboard to footboard.
I’m wondering if my hurting back is caused by not having enough support in the middle of the boxspring? I noticed I sink down quite a bit on my mattress now, and I don’t think that happened when it was all on the floor. It may have..but I never noticed.
So basically…do you think that the frame is not giving enough support? Should I get that middle support? I’ve noticed on other frames there are middle supports but they go from side to side rather than top to bottom.
Thanks for any help/suggestions!

Getting credit for Simmon's mattress?
In the last 3 years, I have had two Simmons’ Beautyrest mattresses develop "potholes." The first one was inspected and deemed defective and replaced by the store where I purchased it. Now the second one has been deemed defective. I’m not a giant or anything (6’1", 185 lbs).
The store I got both of them from says that they will not give me my money back but will instead replace the mattress under warranty. I do not want another Simmons but that is all the store carries. They said if I want my money back I need to take it up with Simmons.
Does this make any sense? Has anyone been successful getting a refund from the manufacturer for their defective mattress?
The frame does have a center support and it has been checked along with the box spring for defects when they have inspected the mattresses. According to the store inspectors, everything looks fine.

Are Sealy Posturepedic mattresses good mattresses?
A store by me is going out of business and they’re selling All Bright mattresses with the box spring for 0. I don’t know if this is a good deal. I haven’t bought a new mattress in 14 years so every mattress I lie on obviously feels firmer. This is a lot of money for me, but I feel like it is an opportunity to get a good price, if indeed this is a good price.
That is the price for a queen size. Firmness I don’t know what I like. The mattress I have now curves so much in the middle it’s concave. It’s like sleeping in a hammock and my back hurts every morning.

Where I can I buy cheaper mattresses?
I am just moving into my first apartment and need to buy a mattress, a box spring, and a bed frame. I was wondering where the best place to buy a mattress is as far as price goes? So far, the full size mattresses have been quoted as the equivolent of my rent and utilities combined!
btw i prefer NEW mattresses
